How to tie braid to fluorocarbon leader?

Braided line has gained solid popularity in the past some years due to its solid performance in the fishing world. A greater number of anglers are using this technique for boosting their abilities and having a brilliant experience. Due to this, the value of knots for connecting braid to a fluorocarbon leader has also increased. However, the major issue faced by anglers while using braided line with fluorocarbon leader for saltwater or even freshwater is low strength of knots tied by them.

The connection between leader and braid line plays a very vital role, and that’s why it is important to perform this task carefully. For easing your tensions, we will tell you about the step by step process for completing this task. We suggest you following the guide adequately so that nothings get missed and end up creating a problem later.

Step One- Tying a loop

The foremost thing to do is to tie a loop in the braided line. It can be performed using many different ways. It can be performed through spider hitch, end loop, or even Bimini twist. Once this process gets completed, the leader needs to be laid down along the loop.

Step Two- Pinching the fluorocarbon leader

The next thing anglers need to do is performing this step with proper care. You have to pinch the leader and loop end together carefully for making the right connection. It should be performed in a strong way of eliminating disappointment later.

Step Three- Wrapping and tagging

In this step, you have to wrap the leader across the braid at least 8 to 10 times for adding solidity to the connection. Once this process gets completed, there is a need to tag the leader in the backward direction across the braid loop carefully.

Step Four- Pulling the braid

The last thing that you need to perform is pulling the brain so that the knot gets tightened and seated. After completing this step, please don’t forget to remove the tag end of fluorocarbon leader.

What are the major types of fishing knots used with a braided line?

There is a great variety of knots that worked perfectly with the braided line. However, the decision to use one out of them varies from one person to another. We have mentioned the major ones in detail below:

  • Palomar Knot

It is definitely the most convincing knot that the majority of anglers use for fishing with a braided line. The reason behind that is its simple working and solid strength. Moreover, it works perfectly with the braided line without causing any problems.

  • Uni Knot

Another amazing fishing knot that recommended by our professional team is uni knot. The main thing in this version is the way for altering the standard uni so that the best results can be achieved. Going through the eye twice and then turning it 10 times will result in creating solid results.

  • San Diego Knot

It is a good option to tie with the braided line but is known very little among the anglers. The main reason behind that is inconsistency to get the results. Moreover, a San Diego knot takes a very long time for tying down when compared with other forms available in the fishing world.

  • Clinch Knot

This form of the knot has succeeded in gathering positive reviews among anglers. However, there are still plenty of issues attached to this process that may stop the beginners for using the clinch knot. The doubling of braid and passing it across the hook eye become a very difficult task for people who only start fishing as a hobby.

Conclusion

No one wishes to have a wrong knot that results in losing their fish during the action. It doesn’t matter you are looking to tie down knot for a mono or fluorocarbon leader following the right technique is essential. Our team has tried to explain this technique with a tutorial having step by step instructions. Do you know still have a query regarding tying this type of knot?
