How Fishing Lures Work?

How Fishing Lures Work

“A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work”- I can’t remember who said this, but who said this I believe that he is a noble person. Fishing is an interesting hobby because fish is an interesting thing, you can pet them and also you can eat them. For beginners, it is quite difficult to catch lots of fish. It needs perfect materials, techniques, and practice.  A fishing lure is one of the other operative fishing materials. If you are a new learner and want to know how do fishing lures work so hold your breath and get ready for the solution. First, you should know what is a fishing lure. A fishing lure is a kind of artificial bait. It helps to increase the capacity of catching fish and it also helps you to stay away from the search of real fish prey in the mud. It acts like a prey of fish or acts like other fish and attracts fish’s attention.

Before you choose your lures you should know the common features of fishing lures. The body of fishing lures made with different materials like metal, cork, plastic or wood. It looks like bait or prey. You can decorate it with anything that easily can move in underwater. For example- rubbers, furs, feathers, glitter. Fishing lures’ weight also matters in their floating movement or in sinking movement.

Type of fishing lures

There are many types of fishing lures. They are available in different materials,  sizes, shapes, and colors. These differences do effect on the working of fishing lures. Don’t worry I am not gonna tell much things because I don’t want you to bore. I am going to tell you about the common fishing lures. They are

  • Crankbait lures
  • Spoon lures
  • Spinning lures
  • Jig lures

Crankbait lures

One of the most effective fishing lures is crankbait lures. A crankbait lure can be made with plastic or wood. It helps the angler to move in a certain graft in water. A plug is also a type of crankbait. It is similar to the look of a fish. It is very useful and you can add it with any angler.

Spoon lures

Spoon lure is a kind of fishing lure that looks like a spoon without a handle.  It has a rounded head and also has a narrower pointed end. They look similar to the look of a dart’s spearhead. They shine while fluttering and act like injured bait fish in deep water that that easily attracts fish in deep water.

Jig lures

Jig lures are common lures for fishing. This type of lures works in both saltwater and in fresh water. It has a metallic head and a feather tail. Its heavy weight helps it to sink in deep water. It can go in depth water more than 200 meters, so you can easily catch fish in deep water.

Spinner lures

Spinner lures are made of metal. It creates a movement like a real fish. Its metal body helps it sink in the depth of the water.

Except for these lures, there is another type of lures exist. For example – artificial fly lures, chatterbait lures, swimbait lures etc. You can also combine more than one lures to create a unique lure.

Fishing lures’ working techniques :

Walking the dog

It is one of the effective techniques for a fishing lure. Tip your fishing rod 45° angle in water. Jerk the line in the downward of the water. First, slowly move the rod and then speed up your movement to act like a fish.

Dead stick, dive and trolling

A dead stick is an interesting movement of fishing lure. Cast your fishing lure and wait for 10 seconds. Move the rod gently. It imitates injured prey’s behavior.

For diving, the crankbait lure is very useful. After casting your lure, do nothing until your line starts to sink and you can enjoy the scenery of the place. After a few seconds start to short your reel and then again let it sink down. This technique helps you to catch fish in the deep track, usually where the bigger fish lies and if you can catch any of them then you will be going to have a great meal.

Trolling is a very lazy kind of working process with a fishing lure for the lazy person like me who love to eat fish but don’t wanna work hard for this. You can use spoon lures or spinning lures. Just troll your lure as your boat moves. It mimics baitfish behavior, who is just roaming here and there.

Match the lures’ color with water’s condition

It is necessary to choose a lure with perfect color that can be matched with the water’s condition. If you are going fishing at night, you should choose a bright color fishing lure or you can use LED lures. In fuzzy water or in dusty water white and red color rules are more effective than any other colors. Muted colors are effective in clear water. It is an advantage for cute girls who love pink colors so much. Ha Ha Ha… Just joking.

Conclusion

I gave you all the information about the fishing lure and you are now ready to work with the fishing lure. But wait a second you should keep remembering some other necessary things. Don’t overdo the same process. Because fishes are smart and they will understand your tricks so don’t bore them with same tricks. Cast your lure in different places so that you can catch various fishes. Always keep clean your lures and always take care of them. Because durty lures don’t attract beautiful and clean fishes. One last thing, this not advice this is just a statement from my heart – Fishing is an art and you can become Leonardo Da Vinci of this art by following this technique. So keep smiling, enjoy fishing. Have a nice fishing day.
